To be fair, one has to concede that there is, most certainly, a learning curve to Photoshop (and other “premium photo editing software”) which is equally steep to that of GIMP. This is a common critique leveled by users of PS users and users of software more purposely designed to be “eqivalent” to Photoshop that results from their indoctrination to the PS interface.
